KRUPASAGAR SRIDHARAN

Krupasagar Sridharan is a Film & Television Professional with almost two decades of Creative, Production and Management experience in Stage, Film, Music, Events and Broadcast Entertainment, with a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Madras, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Global Sales and Marketing Management, trained in Directing for the Stage by the Royal Court Theatre, London, and in Film by the New York Film Academy,

Born in Chennai, and growing up all over India, Sagar has a multi-cultural upbringing, combined with two strong and opposing cinematic influences from both his grandfathers: one was a celebrated Tamil and Sinhala Screenwriter and Director, and the other worked his entire career in film distribution, with Twentieth Century Fox.


Sagar began his Television career writing, directing and producing several seasons of Non-Fiction Music Television Format Shows and Reality TV, ranging from Top 40 Countdown shows, to one of the earlier Reality TV Modelling Talent shows - [v] Get Gorgeous 2 - during his time as Producer first at SS Music, Chennai and then at Channel [v] (STAR India Pvt. Ltd.), in Mumbai.


A move to Endemol India saw Sagar as Episode Producer on the first two seasons of Bigg Boss - Celebrity Big Brother (India), and as creator and Executive Producer of the Endemol India - United Nations joint project Mission Ustaad, bringing together the top Musical Celebrity Talent of India, including A.R. Rahman and Javed Akhtar as judges, to support the UN's Millenium Development Goals Campaign on a 13-week series on a major General Entertainment Broadcaster. The show featured 26 sizzling episodes of musical performances, both covers and originals, from these powerhouse performers on one of India's first fully plasma-walled 360-degree TV sets, at Yashraj Studios.

In 2008-2009, Sagar co-wrote Story, Screenplay & Dialogue for Ramaa - the Saviour (2010) a Children's Fantasy Adventure Feature Film starring Tanushree Dutta, Sahil Khan and featuring The Great Khali. The film was shot in the rainforests of Thailand.

In 2008-2009, Sagar co-wrote and co-directed Indique - Big Ideas from Emerging India, a 4-episode Documentary Series for Blood Orange Media, Minneapolis, for US Broadcast on PBS. The series, on Grassroots Innovation in India, premiered at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, and inspired the seminal non-fiction book and international best-seller "Jugaad Innovation: A Frugal and Flexible Approach to Innovation for the 21st Century".

With Sony Entertainment Television, in 2009, Sagar coordinated the efforts of crews from 16 countries deep in the world's oldest rainforest in Taman Negara, Malaysia as Senior Executive Producer / Creative Supervisor of the ITV-Sony joint effort, Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao (I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here - India), produced by Miditech (India) and Silverback (Sweden).

As Line Producer with Madras Talkies, Chennai based Film Production company centred around Mani Ratnam, one of India most celebrated and internationally lauded film directors, Sagar worked on the post-production, marketing and release of the recent trilingual feature film project, Raavan (2010) (Hindi) / Raavanan (2010) (Tamil) and the pre-production setup of Madras Talkies' next Hindi feature film, then set to begin photography in the UK in mid-2011, now on hold.

With Sol Production, on Just Dance, a Dance Reality Show starring Hrithik Roshan, Farah Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant, on STAR Plus, Sagar was first Associate Director on the Premiere Episode, and then Associate Creative Director / Head (Reality) on the main series.

In 2012, Sagar was Post-Production Supervisor on Mira Nair's The Reluctant Fundamentalist, starring Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson, Liev Schreiber and Kiefer Sutherland. Run out of Mumbai, the film's Post-Production involved studios in India, London, LA, New York Atlanta and Karachi, and premiered as the opening film of the 69th Venice International Film Festival, subsequently releasing theatrically across the world in May 2013.

Sagar continued to freelance as a director and writer, for instance as the Series Writer on the series Emergency Room, on the National Geographic Channel, and as Writer and Creative Director on Spirit of India - The Festivals, on Zing (English) and Zee (Hindi), eventually syndicated to Discovery.

But in 2014 he joined forces with Classical Musician and accomplished Music Composer, Producer and Arranger, Ashwin Srinivasan, to found WaveLens Studios, operating in Film / TV / Digital Media Video & Music Content Production, Post-Production, Visual Effects Production and Aerial Cinematography, with Sagar as Co-Founder & CEO.

WaveLens Studios: Highlights
In 2015, WaveLens Studios completed production of “Stupid Cupid” a Made-for-TV feature film for MTV Films, creative produced by Shoojit Sircar and Rising Sun Films, and Written and Directed by WaveLens Studios' Creative Director, Reshu Nath, with Sagar as Co-Writer and Executive Producer. The film premiered on MTV India on 31 May 2015 and is now available on YouTube and MTVIndia.com

In 2016, WaveLens Studios completed production of "Second Chance", a 25-minute Science Fiction Short Film on the apocalyptic future we as a species risk bringing to pass unless we prioritize conservation of natural resources like water. The film was created for the NGO "Public Concern for Governance Trust", and was distributed in private screenings in schools across India.
The film has won laurels in three categories at the 16 International Film Festival in Jaipur.

Sagar was also Visual Effects Producer and Aerial Cinematographer for Tisca Chopra's "Chutney", directed by Jyoti Kapur Das, and winner of the 2017 Filmfare Award for Best Short Film.

From inception, WaveLens Studios had focussed heavily on Visual Effects and Technology-driven aspects of content production, and in this had been partnered with CustomTechnologies Design Lab, a Mumbai-based Experiential Technology and Content company.

Acting as a Consulting Content Head at CustomTechnologies since 2016, Sagar had consulted on, written and voiced dozens of Corporate Films for Animation, Live-Action Video, 360-Degree Video, Virtual Realilty, Augmented Reality and Holographic implementation, and by late 2017, WaveLens Studios operating almost entirely in the Visual Effects and Technology space, a shift in priorities led to the retirement of the Wavelens Studios label.

In January 2018 Sagar joined the Senior Management Team at CustomTechnologies as Director - Content and Communication Strategy
